Chain of Lakes

Minneapolis

Once a natural refuge for urban dwellers southwest of Minneapolis, today The Chain of Lakes is busy urban parkland with 5.5 million visitors a year. The chain is comprised of five major lakes, Calhoun, Harriet, Lake of the Isles, Cedar, and one smaller lake, Brownie. Another stop on the Grand Rounds , the lakes are an important destination for the city and the region.

The lakes feature a connected pedestrian and bike trail system that allows visitors to move easily between the lakes. In addition, Calhoun, Lake of the Isles, Cedar, and Brownie Lake are all connected by canals, allowing visitors to travel between the lakes on the water.
